MIPCOM 2021 will offer a new series of top sessions as part of its conference program on October 11-12, including top global streamers, key content producers, and broadcasters.
“Women in Leadership Keynote Super Session” will be the first activity on Monday 11 at 12pm at Grand AuditoriumLouis Lumière. Alex Mahon, CEO, Channel 4 (UK), BouchraRejani, founder, WeMake (France) and BibianeGodfroid, CEO, Newen Studios (France)are the top female industry leaders sharing insights on how they are embracing and driving change and striving to make a positive impact at their company and global society levels.
A new “Global Streamers Keynote Series” will take place over two days on Monday 11 October and Tuesday 12 October in Cannes, on a series of 20-minute back-to-back interviews in the Debussy Theatre, Palais des Festivals. The companies highlighted will be discovery+, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and NENT Group’s Viaplay.
The executives will share programming strategies, production briefs, international roll out strategies and partnership opportunities with MIPCOM’s global audience of producers, broadcasters and distributors. They will be interviewed by Marjorie Paillon, Presenter-Founder, I Love Productions.
On Monday 11 at 2.30pm at Debussy Theatre, it will be the turn of discovery+’sMyriam Lopez-Otazu, Group VP Content & Acquisitions EMEA and APAC,and Doug Craig, SVP of Content Strategy, ViacomCBS Networks International’s (VCNI’s) Streaming Division to talk about Paramount+.
In her newly created and expanded role is working closely with the global leadership team, Lopez-Otazuleads editorial strategy across development and production, acquisitions, and planning for both linear and discovery+. She and her team super-serve content teams across international markets, defining and executing internal and external sourcing strategies, partnering on multi-market commissions, and implementing D+ merchandising and utilization plans.
Craig leads international content strategy, acquisitions, programming, and operations for VCNI’s portfolio of international streaming services across all international markets. Craig is focused on leading the development and execution of VCNI’s content proposition and channel/programming strategy for Paramount+, as the service continues its rollout worldwide, having launched in 25 markets globally this year, with 45 additional markets projected through 2022.
On Tuesday 12at 12pm at Grand Auditorium, the “Adapting to keep on winning Keynote Super Session” will bring Françoise Guyonnet and Anne Chérel, two leading executives from global powerhouse Studiocanal discuss how it’s never been more important to move with the times. Plus International best-selling author and showrunner Marc Levy, who joins the conversation to unveil exclusive footage of his award-winning novel, All Those Things We Never Said, which he has just adapted for the screen.
On the same day at 2.30 pm at Debussy Theatre, Pluto TV’s Olivier Jollet, SVP, and General Manager, and FilippaWallestam, EVP & Chief Content Officer of Nordic Entertainment Group’s Viaplay will take the scene at 2.30 pm at Debussy Theater. Jolletis responsible for defining and developing Pluto TV’s continued international expansion and business development strategies, and for securing strategic partnerships to drive growth and revenue. Based in Berlin, Jollet collaborates with leaders across ViacomCBS, including content, distribution, marketing, and finance, to ensure a coordinated approach to Pluto TV’s international operating model, and identify new partnerships and opportunities across the digital entertainment ecosystem.
Wallestam will highlight Viaplay’s strategy, who has recently announced an important expansion, planning to launch the services in five markets: UK, Canada, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, making it available in 16 countries by end of 2023. Two years after that, the Nordic SVOD plans to targets approximately 12 million subscribers by end of 2025.
