Mediaset/Mediterráneo: premium fictions and global presence

Silvia Cotino Estornell, Sales and Business Development Deputy Director.

Mediaset/Mediterráneo is experiencing a period of great dynamism, consolidating its position as a key player in the distribution and production of content with global reach. The company has closed a year marked by international milestones, including the success of La Favorita 1922, the period drama produced in collaboration with Bambú Producciones and Mediaset España. Premiering on Telecinco in the first half of the year, the series was pre-sold in more than 20 territories before its debut and has just secured its launch throughout Latin America via HBO Max.

Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026, Mediterráneo seeks to expand the international footprint of its catalog, not only with Mediaset España‘s own productions, but also with the distribution of third-party titles. Recent additions include Point Nemo (Ficción Producciones), a science fiction thriller, and Vanished (Desaparecido, Zebra Producciones and Pausoka), a youth drama that has already been a hit in Spain on Netflix and ETB. These additions reinforce the commitment to premium fiction and consolidate a competitive portfolio for strategic markets. Added to this is the sale of international formats, with successful examples such as La que se avecina, Unauthorized Living, and Marriage Scenes.

At MIPCOM, the company is presenting La Agencia, the eagerly awaited Spanish adaptation of the global phenomenon Call My Agent!, produced by Good Mood (Mediawan) for Mediaset España. With a cast headed by Javier Gutiérrez, Marta Hazas, Manuela Velasco, and Carlos Bardem, the series combines humor, drama, and stellar cameos by Belén Rueda, Jaime Lorente, and José Coronado.

Mediterráneo is also betting big on Ella, maldita alma (Damn Soul), a drama in collaboration with Plano a Plano that tells the story of an impossible love triangle between a priest and his cousin’s wife. The project has already received the Audience Award for Best Series at the South International Series Festival.

The catalog is rounded out with high-impact premieres such as Point Nemo, a Prime Video hit in Spain starring Óscar Jaenada, Alba Flores, and Maxi Iglesias, and Vanished, which broke audience records on ETB
