ORF Enterprise: quality and volume of content

Armin Luttenberger, head of department Content Sales iInternational, ORF Enterprise.

ORF Enterprise continues to stand firm, while enjoying the privilege of being able to access a remarkable creative output. In addition to the new crime comedy series The Curious Cases of Gerti B., the company now offers several new seasons of its best-selling series. A good balance between quality and attractive volume characterizes its portfolio and is offered with great enthusiasm by its sales team.

Awards such as the Jackson Wild Media Awards 2024 in two categories for the ORF Universum documentary Desert Phantoms – Lions of the Skeleton Coast, confirms its mission to offer a one-stop store for the best content. By 2025, the Vienna-based company expects to launch new series, new seasons and brand-new documentaries, to further grow content in all of its best-selling genres.

Armin Luttenberger, head of department Content Sales International, ORF Enterprise: ‘Our colorful catalog already includes more than 1,000 recent titles on our screening platform alone across all genres – thousands of hours more available in our back catalog. A significant volume of high-quality production that offers the perfect point of contact for decision makers looking for the perfect content across all genres’.

The Curious Cases of Gerti B.

The Curious Cases of Gerti B.:

At Mipcom 2024, the company is offering a new assortment of content along with fan favorites: The new crime comedy The Curious Cases of Gerti B. features Detective Gerti B., a veteran police inspector facing personal and professional challenges. Her marriage is at a standstill and she is passed over for promotion in favor of a much younger and more prepared colleague, who often takes credit for her work. The situation is further complicated when they investigate a murder case in Gerti’s neighborhood, which brings up old stories and forces her to confront her past and her community. In addition, David Schalko‘s miniseries Me and the Others, tackles the relationship between self and environment and explores whether the constellation would change if we were allowed to define the rules of the game at will. The result is not a cool experimental montage, but a zany, tragicomic satire with a brilliant set and sharp dialogue.

School of Champions and Fast Forward return with new seasons, presenting new challenges for the students of Austria’s elite ski academy and Angelika Schnell’s search for peace in her life, despite running a successful detective agency.

ORF UNIVERSUM:

UNIVERSUM Nature and History documentaries continue to set the standard with their exceptional quality, as evidenced by the latest success of Lions of the Skeleton Coast at the Jackson Media Awards. The documentary follows the extraordinary journey of three orphaned desert lion cubs as they navigate one of the world’s most hostile environments. From their first steps in the desert to hunting seals at the ocean’s edge, these lions adapt to become true coastal predators. The Nicobar Islands – A Monkey’s Long Tale offers a unique glimpse into the world of long-tailed macaques in a tropical paradise, while Wild Transylvania – Dracula’s Hidden Kingdom takes viewers on a thrilling journey into the heart of Dracula’s country. In addition, Wildlife 2.0 – Adapting to a New World shows how human activities such as agriculture, construction and climate protection structures transform rural habitats and affect wildlife.

Meanwhile, daring pirates, rebellious women and social justice advocates are represented in the UNIVERSUM History collection. For adventurous viewers, Pirates of the Mediterranean – A Game of Greed and Power, sheds light on an unknown part of European history: piracy and slavery in the Mediterranean. In Women Pirates – Rebels of the Seas, viewers meet four remarkable women pirates who defied patriarchal and colonial Western powers to lead adventurous lives throughout Caribbean history, revealing their stories forgotten and overshadowed by famous pirates. The story of Marie König, a young prostitute who denounced violence and exploitation, sparking intense debate throughout Europe, is told in Rebellion in the Brothel – Trafficking in Women around 1900. For those fascinated by ancient civilizations, Mothers of the Minotaur – Reign and Ruin of the Minoans, is an excellent choice. This documentary follows scientists using recent excavations and DNA evidence to uncover new facts about this advanced, possibly female-centered civilization.
