GMA Worldwide bets on Filipino drama for global growth

Rochella Ann Salvador outlines the network’s international growth strategy and key titles driving demand ahead of 2026.

GMA Network’s Worldwide Division continues to consolidate its position as a major exporter of Filipino content, with steady growth across multiple territories and platforms. In an interview with Prensario International, Rochella Ann Salvador, Assistant Vice President of GMA Network, Worldwide Division, highlighted the company’s current momentum and its outlook for the coming years.

According to Salvador, GMA Worldwide has strengthened its international distribution footprint through consistent licensing activity across Asia, Africa and emerging digital platforms. Filipino dramas and movies remain in strong demand, particularly those built around emotionally driven storytelling that easily connects with global audiences. In parallel, the company is expanding its English-dubbed catalogue to enhance accessibility and support multi-platform distribution strategies worldwide.

Looking ahead to 2026, Salvador anticipates continued growth fueled by new partnerships and a broader push into AVOD and digital licensing opportunities. A key priority will be deeper penetration into underserved territories, supported by refreshed catalogues featuring newly dubbed titles and carefully curated content packages adapted to regional programming needs. “Our goal is to position Filipino stories so they can travel even further and connect with wider international audiences,” she noted.

Among the titles currently drawing strong interest are Stolen Bonds and Her Name Was Carolina. Stolen Bonds centers on twins separated at birth (one raised in privilege, the other in hardship) exploring themes of family, identity and the lasting consequences of hidden truths. Her Name Was Carolina follows Lorena, whose seemingly perfect life unravels when her real identity is revealed, exposing a story of injustice, betrayal and misplaced trust. Both series exemplify the kind of universal narratives that continue to drive GMA Worldwide’s international success.
