Sarah Zarka – Head of International Sales

Federation Kids & Family, the division of Federation Entertainment that distributes children’s content to third parties, is participating in the markets held in Cannes this year to present its latest productions. In addition to Gangnam Project, Spellbound and Theodiosa, the company led by David Michael is also presenting Find me in Paris.

The Gangnam Project (10×30′) is a live-action teen drama series produced by Pillango Productions and Aircraft Pictures. Set in Korea, this series tells the story of Hannah Shin, an energetic Canadian/Korean teenager who dreams of becoming a K-pop star and connecting with her Korean heritage. One summer, she takes a job as an English teacher and flies to South Korea to work at an elite K-pop training school and ends up getting much more than she bargained for.  Hannah is tasked with tutoring one of the school’s top students, Chan-Mi, which is proving a bit difficult. In an attempt to win her and the other students over, Hannah shows off her talent with some impromptu performances, but her talent attracts the attention of the school’s owner, which gives her the opportunity to become a student.  In addition to singing, dancing and taking Korean lessons, there is plenty of drama, especially when Hannah discovers that her father was a K-pop star.

In addition, Federation Kids & Family presents Spellbound (39×30′). This live-action teen series, produced by Cottonwood Media in co-production with ZDF and ZDF Studios, follows a 15-year-old girl who moves from the U.S. to France to study at the Paris Opera Ballet School. But things are turned upside down when the protagonist discovers a spell book in her aunt’s apothecary shop and unwittingly casts the antidote to a protection spell that has been hiding her identity since she was a little girl.  In doing so, she summons her nemesis.  This exciting high-concept series combines ballet, magic, witchcraft and more, with diversity and inclusion at the heart of the production. The first season is complete and the second season is in production.

Another main title of the company based in Paris is Theodiosa (52×30′, 2 seasons). This live-action teen series is produced by Cottonwood Media in co-production with ZDF and ZDF Studios. Set in 1906, the series revolves around a smart and daring 14-year-old girl named Theodosia Throckmorton (aka Theo), the daughter of two intrepid Egyptologists excavating in the Valley of the Kings. When Theo and her invention-crazed younger brother, Henry, stumble upon a hidden tomb and a mysterious artifact, the «Eye of Horus,» Theo unlocks the power to see and perform true magic, thus uncovering a whole new world of mystery and danger.  Now, from her parents’ home, the world-famous Museum of Legends and Antiquities in the heart of Edwardian London, Theo must battle ancient forces, dark magic and comic mayhem as she and Henry, along with their friends, street magician Will and Egyptian princess Safiya, try to survive teenage life, overcome education and save the world. The first season is complete, and the second season is in production.

Finally, Federation Kids & Family presents Find Me in Paris (26×30′, three seasons). This live-action teen series, produced by Cottonwood Media, ZDF, ZDF Studios, Be-Films and the National Opera of Paris, stars Jessica Lord (The Next Step, Lego Friends), Castle Rock (The Descendants 2), Isabelle Allen, (Safe, Les Miserables), and Jake Swift (Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism). Currently airing in more than 80 territories, Find Me in Paris combines world-class ballet, modern dance, drama and comedy.
