MEGOGO: Exploring new businesses in the western countries

Artur Pacula, director of the Polish unit

The streaming platform from Ukraine, MEGOGO, is expanding to other countries and recently announced its operations in Poland, where it will begin to explore the Western market in Europe. Artur Pacula, director of the new unit, recently revealed the plans for the service that is currently available in 14 countries around the world.

The service, which offer primarily includes television packages with interactive functions, as well as a library of films and series, which will be replenished. The company’s office in Warsaw is headed Pacula, who previously worked at The Walt Disney Company, Sony Music Poland, and Solopan.

‘We turned around and now we are looking at the western part of Europe. And Poland is the first step. Of course, we are looking at other markets and studying how our offer is possible there. As for Poland, me at least, I have quite a long experience in the field in several near countries, so we believe in this marker as a proper place for the expansion of Megogo’, he said.

In Ukraine, the service is one of the main paid TV players, with a wide range of content that includes unconventional formats such as podcasts and audiobooks. ‘It is a quiet big operation, although we do not have an extensive library, but of course, in the case of other countries, our operation is much smaller’, added the executive.

Part of this movement is due to the war, the executive remarked, adjudicating that this situation complicated the operating costs, as well as the technical complications and those of obtaining human talent. ‘Currently, everybody is working as strong as possible. The company is hiring over 700 people and I would love to say that they are based in there, but they are not. That’s why we are working in many countries, in many cities. And for example, I have not met for a year and many people of my team in person because it’s not possible’.

‘During the last months, we carefully prepared the launch of the media service in Poland. TV subscription packages will cover all the leading channels of the Polish market, such as TVN, Polsat, TV Puls, TV4, Stopklatka TV, Zoom TV. The catalog of films in various price ranges has been compiled thanks to fruitful cooperation with partners from the Polish and international markets’, said Pacula.

In addition, MEGOGO has prepared an extra offer for all Ukrainians living in Poland. 70 popular Ukrainian-language TV channels are available to viewers in the special “TV and Cinema UA” package.

And MEGOGO Voice, the media service’s own studio, prepared Polish dubbing for Ukrainian films and series. The tapes Jack and London, Love and bloggers, the Bruce series and others are already available. The company notes that in this way they want to promote cultural exchange between countries.
