Toonz Media: New sales strategy in global markets

The producer and distributor Toonz Media, is participating at the Annecy Festival and its market MIFA, where Bruno Zarka, President of Development, Distribution and Co-production, talked with Prensario about the latest news of the company.

As their strategy at the event, Zarka mentioned two objectives: ‘One is to close some gaps with pre-sales in some projects and the second one is the launch of a new line of finished products’.

The exec commented that normally, the company presents five projects to finance via pre-sales deals: ‘And for MIFA 2023 we brought Sunnyside Billy, Paddypaws, Harold and Bearsy Bear, Swat Kats Revolution, and Super Brakan and Icebella.

It is important to highlight that with Swat Kats, we take a different approach. This project is a continuation of the iconic series Top Cat from Hannah Barbera, in this particular case, instead of going with the traditional pre-sales financial approach we partnered with a videogame partner to launch a product on the same line with the animation’.

Zarka was emphatic on this, he thinks that the animation industry is suffering a ‘massive change’ with the gamification, ‘we are converging watching, consuming and playing’, added.
