ATF 2023: New sections and great expectatios

Being one of the main trade markets on the agenda of every executive looking for opportunities in the competitive Asian market, ATF (Asia TV Forum) will celebrate its 24th edition from December 5-8 at the Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore, where it will bring together the top players in the region, with Western executives eager to find out what’s in this exciting market.

The first lineup of executives who will take the stage to talk about the current trend in the segment has already been announced. They are, Carlo L. Katigbak, President & CEO at ABS-CBN Corporation; Wang Xiaohui, CCO & President of Professional Content Business Group at iQIYI; Khshboo Yaday, CEO of Jio Entertainment Services; Daniel Riddell, CTO at Kidoodle.TV & SafeX.TV; Patompong Sirachairat, CEO at MONO Next; and Aron Levitz, President of Wattpad WEVTOON Studios.

In addition to the exhibition market, ATF concentrates on events dedicated to exchange and networking, such as its classic Latino conference with the presence of TelevisaUnivison, Caracol, RCN, TV Azteca, among others.

ATF has organized different meetings so that producers can showcase their creative works through the various Pitches. One of them is the ATF IP Accelerator (AIPA) Project Market will be an annual event that will bring together the best content concepts globally, up to 15 projects, across all genres and formats—excluding animation—will be selected by a panel to be assessed for AIPA’s program onsite.

Also Beach Pictures, in alliance with ATF, presents the first edition of a scripted pitch for drama producers and projects from Asia, offering co-production/commissioning/financing possibilities in the US, and other international markets.

Likewise, this 2023 edition inaugurates the ATF x TTB Animation Lab & Pitch, a new initiative that will have focus on animation for youth, families, and adults. This section in the market is possible through the alliance with Ties That Bind, and with the collaboration of the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), and supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA sub-program of the European Union.

Some of the confirming buyers for this edition are Prime Video, ATV, Bongo, Canal+, Catchplay+, Cignal, Disney, Docubay, Durioo, Globoplay, iQIYI, pop TV, Vidio, Viu, Tencent, among others.’We look forward to having the industry back at Marina Bay this December and continuing to promote the television business, as we have done for the past 23 years,’ said Yeow Hui Leng, Group Project Director, RX Singapore.

RX added a full-day program on December 5, focused on dialogues with key players, such as Wang Xiaohui, CCO / (PCG), iQIYI; Marco Nobili, Executive VP & Int’l GM, Paramount+; Xie Ying, VP, Youku / GM, Youku Drama Center; Ed Love, Head of Business Development & Content Acquisitions, Samsung TV Plus. All these executives among others, will touch themes like AI, OTT innovations, distribution strategies, and current trends.
