Plano a Plano and Dopamine to co-pro in collaboration with Asacha Media and Adrenalin the TV adaptation of «Cicatriz»

On an event breakfast at MIPCOM, RTVE, Prime Video and Telekom Srbija announced the join for Cicatriz, the long-awaited adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Juan Gómez-Jurado.

The series led and produced by the Spanish production company Plano a Plano together with the Mexican company Dopamine, which is at the market seeking financing partners for the project, which also counts on the collaboration with the pan-European production studio Asacha Media Group. The Serbian production company Adrenalinse will take care of the service in Serbia.

The series, which will consist of eight episodes recorded between Serbia and Spain, will have Pablo Roa and Fernando Sancristóbal, screenwriters on the successful and international Money Heist, and Verónica Marza (ToyBoy, Diablero) on its script team. Miguel Ángel Vivas, Money Heist, VIS A VIS, Extinción, Siege) will be the main director. Casting will be announced shortly.

Cicatriz has become an ambitious project with a very universal theme throughout Europe, with RTVE and Prime Video Spain joining forces with Telekom Srbija in this first large-scale co-production between Spain and the Adriatic countries.

The series is an action thriller that revolves around Simón, a brilliant computer scientist, with zero social skills who, on the verge of striking gold, meets Irina, a young Ukrainian woman willing to carry out the revenge for which she has been preparing for a long time. Meeting each other will change the destiny of their lives forever.

César Benítez, president of Plano a Plano, defines this co-production as ‘an ambitious project that opens a new path in international collaborations for Plano a Plano and allows us to approach other business models’:  ‘We are delighted to collaborate with Asacha Media Group to lead this project. Additionally, we are very grateful for the support of RTVE, Prime Video and Telekom Srbija. It is going to be a great fiction that will have an impact on the global market’.

Fidela Navarro, CEO of Dopamine, explained that ‘Cicatriz is an example of how to get different works from the same literary universe (in this case by the great Juan Gómez Jurado) to reach international screens under different commercial models. Innovation and diversity in the world of co-production thus achieve new objectives for studios, authors, talents, and platforms. For us as a studio, producing an original and a multi-window by the same author at the same time is a source of pride’.
