Olympusat, the US based company that provides a platform of channels for the US market, Europe, Latam and other regions, is making focus in its Free TV line of FAST channels, where it is providing quality content, usually paid, for free to global audiences.
Olympusat is going from strength to strength through its FreeTV brand, which has gained a presence on key platforms in Latin America. In February, it launched seven new FAST channels on DirecTV GO, in a pioneering move in the region. This model, which allows for the free distribution of ad-funded content, is in line with trends that are also setting the pace in Europe, where operators are looking to diversify their revenues without relying exclusively on subscriptions.
The company also strengthened its presence in the FAST ecosystem with FreeTV Asia on Samsung TV Plus Mexico, offering a curated selection of Korean dramas and Asian action movies dubbed into Spanish. Meanwhile, in Brazil, channels such as FreeTV Crime and FreeTV Drama have been integrated into Samsung TV Plus and TCL Channels, with programming tailored to Portuguese-speaking audiences.
These actions are backed by a continuous improvement in the user experience: the FreeTV app has expanded its compatibility to Sony smart TVs, extending access to its growing catalogue.
Olympusat‘s deployment in Latin America is seen as a strategic laboratory for globally scalable distribution models. The European ecosystem (diverse in languages, consumer habits and regulations) represents an opportunity to replicate the FAST model adapted to local contexts.
The growing demand for accessible content, combined with the rise of ad-supported free-to-air platforms, makes markets such as Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK natural next horizons for this type of expansion. While media companies in Europe are looking for alliances to strengthen their catalogues without incurring high acquisition costs, Olympusat‘s curatorial and multiplatform approach presents itself as an agile and efficient alternative.
