TAICCA strengthens its international strategy at Series Mania

The Series Mania Forum officially opened on March 24 in Lille, France, bringing together key players from the global television industry. Within this context, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) once again positions Taiwan as an active partner in the international market, this year with an expanded presence and a renewed strategic focus.

TAICCA Chairperson Wang Min-hui (third from left) leads the “TAIWAN SERIES” pavilion at the Series Mania Forum in Lille, France.

Led by CEO Erica Wang, TAICCA arrived with a delegation of 31 Taiwanese audiovisual companies and the TAIWAN SERIES pavilion, where 49 projects are being showcased to international buyers, producers, and platforms. The selection spans multiple genres —from crime and social drama to romance and period productions— highlighting both original creations and cross-media adaptations, with a clear aim: to further integrate Taiwanese content into the global audiovisual supply chain.

Beyond the market showcase, TAICCA is taking a step forward in its internationalization strategy by upgrading its pitching platform. What was previously focused exclusively on Taiwanese projects is now evolving into the “Asia Co-Pro Pitch by TAICCA”, opening the door to collaborations across the region. This shift reflects a broader vision of positioning Taiwan not only as a content producer, but also as a hub for Asian co-productions.

TAICCA brings together 31 Taiwanese companies and 49 outstanding titles at the “TAIWAN SERIES” pavilion, showcasing the strength of Taiwan’s content industry.

A key element of this new phase is the launch of the Serial Bridges Asia Award, created to recognize projects with strong international potential. The award will be granted by a jury composed of European production and distribution experts, who will evaluate participating projects from a global market perspective. In addition to industry consultation opportunities, the winning project will be eligible to apply for TAICCA’s Creative Content Development Program, with access to early-stage development funding of up to approximately USD 60,000.

According to Wang, ‘Series Mania continues to represent Taiwan’s main gateway into the European market. In its fifth year as an official partner of the event, TAICCA is not only reinforcing its presence but also adapting to a context where interest in Asian content is steadily growing. With South Korea as Country of Honor in this edition, the increasing demand for stories from the region is evident, presenting both challenges and opportunities for Taiwanese creators seeking international visibility’.

The Taiwan Pavilion serves as a hub for industry networking, fostering international collaboration and co-production opportunities.

TAICCA’s participation also includes the renewal of its memorandum of understanding with Series Mania, strengthening long-term collaboration in areas such as talent development, project incubation, and industry exchange. As part of the official program, Wang will join the panel “Serial Bridges: Igniting new co-production dynamics,” alongside international industry representatives, to discuss emerging trends in global co-productions.

At the market floor, the TAIWAN SERIES pavilion quickly became a meeting point for international professionals. From the opening day, producers and distributors showed interest in exploring partnerships, particularly in co-financing and co-production models. Taiwanese companies such as TVBS and Mirror Entertainment reported a growing curiosity from European players, especially toward suspense and thriller projects, as well as formats with potential for local adaptations.

Among the highlighted titles are Addicted, positioned as Taiwan’s first youth drug crime drama; See You at 11pm, adapted from a popular Mirror Fiction novel; and The Great Tipsy 1980s, a fantasy period drama based on a successful immersive theater production. Together, they reflect the diversity and creative momentum of Taiwan’s current audiovisual landscape.

With initiatives that combine market exposure, development support, and international networking, TAICCA continues to build bridges between Taiwan and global partners. Its presence at Series Mania reinforces a long-term strategy focused on co-production, talent exchange, and sustainable growth, aiming to bring Taiwanese stories to wider audiences across territories.

As part of its agenda at the Forum, TAICCA is hosting the Asia Co-Pro Pitch session and the Taiwan Cocktail networking event on March 25, further encouraging direct interaction between Taiwanese creators and international decision-makers.
