During NEM Dubrovnik 2026, SIC Portugal made its presence felt for the fourth consecutive year with a clear strategy: to boost the international distribution of its content and forge new partnerships in Europe.
“We are very happy to be back at NEM. This is our fourth consecutive year, and we feel that our content is a perfect fit for the region,” said Carlota Vieira, Deputy Director of Content Sales at SIC Portugal, during the event in Croatia.
The executive also highlighted a key milestone for the company: the first sale of a title to the Croatian market, along with continued expansion in countries such as Hungary, Albania, and Serbia, where various formats and dramas are already on the air or have recently been relaunched.
In terms of content strategy, SIC continues to focus on adaptations of stories that have already proven successful in other markets, particularly Turkish dramas and landmark Brazilian television series. “We’re taking strong stories and giving them a Portuguese twist—more Latin, more romantic, and with greater empowerment for female characters,” explained Vieira.
Among current projects, one of the main focuses is Vitoria, the second adaptation of a Turkish format, which has already secured its first international sale. The series is currently in the international editing phase and is shaping up to be a long-running production: three seasons of around 50 episodes each, for an estimated total of 140 episodes.
One of the project’s unique features is the inclusion of alternate endings for the main character, a tool designed to spark conversation on social media and allow local channels to adjust the narrative based on audience response. This approach was previously used in Broken Promise with positive results and will now be replicated.
SIC is also moving forward with the adaptation of Chapters of Life, based on the classic Pages of Life format, a story of twins separated at birth that is once again positioning itself as a project with high international potential.
