Mediatoon Distribution, a subsidiary of the Média-Participations Group, has announced the acquisition of the 30-minute 3D animated TV special Crazy Christmas Glitch. Produced by the Tallinn-based animation studio A Film Estonia, the project has been officially selected for competition at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Previously titled Christmas in the Boonies, the special brings back characters from the acclaimed 13-minute short The Photo That Came to Life, which was produced by the same studio and screened at over 20 international festivals. The plot follows Peter and his friends as their Christmas Eve celebration at a country manor is interrupted by an eccentric Robot Santa who insists that beetroots are the ultimate holiday gift. The children must team up as the rogue Santa banishes two of them to a dysfunctional AI world and another to the Frog Kingdom. The full 3D production promises a distinct visual style, blending offbeat humor with a hint of spookiness to offer an unconventional take on holiday traditions and an ironic look at modern technology.
This announcement coincides with the distributor’s recent acquisition of Blooming Wonders, a series produced by Miyu Productions that is also competing at Annecy in the TV Series category. This catalog expansion follows the Média-Participations Group‘s recent acquisition of a stake in Miyu Productions, a move aimed at reinforcing ties with prominent independent animation players.
Morgann Favennec, Deputy Managing Director of Mediatoon Distribution, expressed: ‘We are particularly proud to represent both a series and a TV special in competition this year, each with its own unique DNA. It perfectly illustrates our ambition at Mediatoon Distribution: to build a line-up that combines the strength of our in-house productions with carefully curated gems from external producers’.
