Content Europe: Globo, european hub and global content

Rodrigo Nascimento, Head of International Business EMEA at Globo.

During Content Europe 2026 in Lisbon, Rodrigo Nascimento, Globo’s Head of International Business EMEA, celebrated the event’s inaugural edition and the strategic role of the company’s hub in Portugal, which was established a year ago.

“We are very pleased with this first edition… «It is important to have an event at home,” said the executive, highlighting that the Lisbon base allows the company to strengthen its connection with Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as consolidating its ties with the local market.

At the showcase, Globo presented titles such as the telenovela Three Graces, Anything Goes (which “is generating a lot of buzz on social media”) and series such as The Others, Single Together and Emergency 53, which recently won an award at the Berlinale.

Nascimento also highlighted the commitment to vertical formats, with character-driven versions aimed at expanding digital reach and reconnecting with new audiences.

In parallel, the company is moving forward with co-productions with SIC Portugal, including remakes of telenovelas broadcast two decades ago, updated to the local context and culture. Furthermore, they are exploring new opportunities in unscripted entertainment formats for the European market.

The largest media company in Latin America, Globo brings together free TV and pay TV channels, in addition to having digital products and services. Its linear channels reach more than 100 million people in Brazil every day. It offers the audience a complete viewing experience, which combines the ability to produce high-quality content with technological expertise, with distribution on several platforms such as TV Globo, a broadcast TV channel; its 26 pay TV channels; its SVOD and streaming platform Globoplay; and digital products such as G1 news, GE.globo sports, and Gshow entertainment, among others. Renowned for the high quality of its productions, Globo has already won 18 International Emmy Awards.
