All3Media launches new unscripted development pod

All3Media has established a new unscripted development label, Seamonster, which will be jointly led by industry veterans Mirella Breda and Sam Pollard. The new pod is exclusively focused on originating, developing, and selling innovative unscripted formats globally.

Seamonster is currently developing a diverse slate of unscripted content, including game shows, reality competition formats, dating shows, and factual entertainment programs. Once formats are successfully sold, they will be co-produced by Seamonster in partnership with All3Media‘s various production companies. The label is already working on paid development for a reality entertainment show commissioned by a major UK broadcaster and is in discussions with other platforms regarding its original slate.

Mirella Breda, who serves as the Managing Director of the new label, has two decades of experience in developing and producing unscripted content. Her career includes senior positions at the BBC, Two Rivers, and Initial, and she most recently held the role of Chief Creative Officer at Lime Pictures. Her notable production credits include Big Brother, Tenable, and Total Wipeout.

Sam Pollard, the Director of Development for Seamonster, is an award-winning executive recognized for creating hit formats such as Release the Hounds, Who Dares Wins, and BigHeads. Pollard’s background includes work at the BBC, Shine, 12 Yard, Gogglebox Entertainment, and Stellify, where he previously collaborated with Breda at Lime Pictures.

Jane Turton, CEO of All3Media, expressed the group’s strategic motivation for the launch, stating, ‘Developing innovative new formats is a hugely valuable skill and a rare talent’. She added that the company is excited to launch Seamonster with its entire focus dedicated to the development and sale of new shows.

Breda and Pollard commented that they are ‘thrilled to launch our own label under the All3Media umbrella’, emphasizing that originating and developing innovative programs is their ‘first love’. They look forward to working closely with their sister companies within the group to produce ‘new and compelling content’.
