Dandelooo Cinéma is heading to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival with a strengthened lineup of family-focused animated features, highlighted by the acquisition of international sales rights to Pikkuli and Starlight Reindeer.
Produced by Finnish studios AittoFlow and Filmkompaniet, the 80-minute feature is currently in production and is set for release in Finland this October, with a French theatrical launch planned for Christmas 2027 through Gebeka Films. Based on the successful preschool property broadcast in more than 40 territories, the film follows the adventures of Pikkuli, a determined little bird who embarks on a magical journey to save Christmas after the legendary Starlight Reindeer disappears.
The acquisition further expands Dandelooo Cinéma’s growing theatrical slate, which also includes Acorn’s Adventure, a 3D family feature produced by Pure Shore and Fabian&Fred, scheduled for release in 2028.
The company is also arriving at Annecy with strong momentum for Born in the Jungle, recently completed and selected for its world premiere at the festival. The feature has secured a wave of distribution agreements across Europe and beyond, including France, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Ukraine, Southeast Europe and Vietnam.
“We are thrilled to bring three new family films to Annecy this year,” said Emmanuèle Pétry, Head of International Sales and Acquisitions at Dandelooo. “These titles reflect the continued growth of our theatrical slate and our commitment to building a strong international presence for high-quality animated features.”
