With The Father heading the new slate at MIPCOM, ATV bets on an outstanding drama slate for global buyers: all in all, it is launching four new series and two new seasons. The Fatherhas just premiered in Turkey and after the first episode released, the title has reached on the top of the ratings in all categories on Tuesday prime-time.
The Father, whichreceived the “Best Performing Debut” on September of the last 10 years as a result of its success with 8,23 ratings and 23,28% share in total audience category, is being internationally released at Mipcom, where the company is organizing a big event on October 18 at 9pm at Plage Goenland.
Another big drama is Bir Küçük Gün Işığı, which already has its first trailer in Spanish as Un poco de sol, produced by NGM: ‘We are very happy with the lineup for the next fall, starting with this love story between Berk Oktay (Forbbiden Love) and Seray Kaya (Woman): it is a classic Turkish series that we are promoting among the clients that I will visit on this road trip’, underlinedEmre Gorentas, head of Sales, Americas & MENA, and Muge Akar, head of sales, Europe, Asia & Africa.
Shooting took place in Italy, in many historical and romantic places in the country. It started in Bologna and continued in Venice, and drama and romantic elements will abound. Hakan (Oktay) and Elif (Kaya) are husband and wife to be happily married. The only thing missing in her life is a child. While trying to fail various medical treatments, Elif suggests that they adopt a child. However, Hakan would not accept the idea.‘Before the Turkish premiere, it has been pre-sold to Israel and is having a very good reception in Latin America. It is a traditional love drama with overtones of mystery,’ explained Gorentas.
The other two new series are police drama Ben Bu Cihana Sığmazam, where a special government agent, played by Oktay Kaynarca (Grand Family), must be listed dead in his country for an international mission that no one can know, and Ateş Kuşlarıfrom the same producer of the historical series Destan and The Ottoman: Mehmet Bozdağ.
Regarding Destan, two big news have been confirmed: within the Americas, it has been sold to a US Hispanic network; and with Asia, it has just received the Seoul International Drama Award as “The Best Serial Drama Award of the Year”, a recognition received by Gorentas and Akar in Seoul.
On the other hand, Gorentas has organized an important business trip to Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Miami during August to present in advance to key clients the new series ATV is launching in Cannes. ‘We met Telefe and eltrece (Argentina), Chilevisión, Mega, Canal 13 and TVN (Chile),América TV and Latina (Peru), andTelevisaUnivision and TV Azteca (Mexico), in addition to other key clients in Miami’, he described. Apartfrom the new line up, the distributor is also promoting two new seasons of For My Family 3 and The Ottoman 4, which have been very successful and have been sold all over the world. ‘Great premieres of the all these series are expected, we are excited about the expectation of the audience and our clients’, concluded Gorentas and Akar.
