Fabio Nesi, CEO of Casta Diva Entertainment, recently shared insights on the company’s journey and developments over the past three years in an interview ahead of MIPCOM 2024. Nesi talked with Prensario, along with Chief Creative Officer Massimo Righini, highlighted key milestones and upcoming projects as Casta continues to expand its presence in the Italian and international audiovisual markets.
Casta Diva Entertainment, part of the Casta Diva Group, was launched just three years ago. One of the main challenges, Nesi revealed, was building credibility in the entertainment space despite the broader group’s long-standing history in events and commercial sectors. ‘Clients wanted something new’, he explained. The company quickly gained momentum, securing a deal with Discovery for its first food show within just three months of launching. By its third year, Casta Diva had established a foothold with Rai, producing daily shows, documentaries, and preparing for their first primetime program.
Righini emphasized the company’s focus on original formats this year, particularly a new weekly dating show for Rai 2, a collaboration with the channel’s manager. Additionally, the company has become a leading producer for Food Network, creating 11 different food-based shows in 2023 alone. ‘We’ve expanded into documentary production as well’, noted, referencing a co-produced project with a London partner that aired in September.
Looking beyond its domestic success, Nesi is keen to broaden Casta Diva’s international reach. The company is already working with partners in London and the U.S. to produce global documentaries. The exec pointed out that entering new markets, like China, poses challenges but also exciting opportunities. ‘We aim to distribute original formats globally through strategic agreements with international distributor’, he added.
As for future goals, Nesi mentioned that after two years of intense investment, the company’s focus for 2024 will be on producing its first three unscripted shows and debuting in primetime. He sees this as a major milestone for a company that began its entertainment division just three years ago. «I have created a really strong group, and I don’t want to stop any longer,» Nesi concluded.
