CEE: National TV regulators’ meet to make strategies against ‘Russian propaganda’

National Council and KRRiT, the Ukrainian and Polish media regulators have met to discuss further joint efforts in the fight against information terrorism.

In a statement, National Council says that almost a year ago, on July 13, 2022, both media regulators signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and have already jointly held a number of important regulatory consultations.

It adds that the meeting this week, attended by National Council’s head Olha Gerasimyuk and newly elected members of KRRiT, discussed the initiative of the National Council of Poland to unite 9 media regulators of Eastern European countries in order to jointly promote a strategy to combat Russian propaganda in the European Union. “After all, some of the countries of Western Europe are still not fully aware of its real threat and, with their policy of non-resistance, are opening the door to the information terrorism of the Kremlin”.

The National Council goes on to say it will participate in the development of the agenda of a special meeting that will be held in Warsaw in September and will be dedicated to this association.

It concludes: “The parties agreed to record and defend the term “information terrorism” of those actions that Russia commits in the media field. Together, they will stand for the future punishment of Russian propagandists for complicity in terrorism”.
