Cineflix Rights secures global sales for «Sunny Nights»

Cineflix Rights has announced multiple international sales for Sunny Nights, an eight-part dark comedy crime drama directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Colin from Accounts, Hacks).

The series, set to premiere on Stan in Australia on December 26, has been acquired by Bell Media (for its English and French services in Canada), Pro-Sieben (Germany), Canal+ (Netherlands), TVNZ (New Zealand), TG4 (Ireland), and Yes (Israel). These deals follow the recent acquisition by ITV in the UK.

Sunny Nights follows Martin Marvin, played by Will Forte, a strait-laced American who teams up with his sister, Vicki (D’Arcy Carden), to launch a spray tan business in Sydney. What starts as a venture operating out of the back of a van gets complicated when the siblings become entangled in the city’s criminal underworld. The synopsis teases that the pair must figure out how to stay alive, out of prison, and ‘in the black’ when a gangster starts tailing them.

The cast also includes Rachel House, Jessica De Gouw, and Patrick Brammall in a special appearance.

Tom Misselbrook, SVP of Scripted Development at Cineflix Rights, highlighted the talent behind the project: ‘Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden, stars of two of this year’s biggest streaming hits, The Four Seasons and Nobody Wants This, have joined forces with Trent O’Donnell, the acclaimed showrunner and director behind Colin from Accounts and Hacks, to create Sunny Nights — a sharp, darkly funny new crime drama’.

The series is a Stan Original production by Jungle Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment, in association with Cineflix Rights. It features significant production investment from Stan and Screen Australia.
