Content Warsaw: Andrzej Muszyński spoke about the dynamics of the Polish market

During the final day of Content Warsaw, the event that took place from June 3-6 at the Kinogram in the Polish capital, Andrzej Muszyński, CEO of ATM Grupa, spoke about the dynamics of the Polish market and the preservation of rights, in addition to the growth of its scripted business, expansion into other genres and the challenges presented by Viaplay‘s exit from originals.

Andrzej Muszyński has been president of ATM Grupa since 2011. Since 2009 he was vice president of the company. Between 1992 and 2001 he headed the advertising office of Telewizja Polsat.

ATM Grupa is the largest independent production company in Poland, with almost 33 million viewers in the last year and 722 hours of TV programs produced for local channels and international broadcasters.

The Polish company works with the best set designers, directors of photography, directors and writers in Poland. It also has highly experienced producers and production managers, including Dagmara Bończyk, Jadzia Dziuma, Karolina Juziuczuk, Zuza Małycha, Wacław Marszałek, Magda Michalska, Teresa Paszkiewicz, Magda Wujec, Maciek Wójcicki, Karol Zjawin, and Przemek Żyłka.

ATM Grupa is behind Netflix‘s recent young adult drama Absolute Beginners and Harlan Coben‘s thriller The Woods, as well as HBO Europe’s first Polish original, The Border, which traveled to Channel 4 UK and Amazon Prime Video in several other European countries.

Changes in ATM‘s domestic market have seen the company re-establish its relationship with national public broadcaster TVP and Viaplay‘s exit from originals has also had a major impact. During the final day of Content Warsaw, Muszyński spoke with Louise Bateman about the company’s evolution and how it has responded to these dynamics, expanding into other genres and furthering the debate on rights retention for Polish producers.
