Ivana Miković, CEO and founder of Firefly Productions.

Content Warsaw took place at the Kinogram in the Polish capital from June 3-6, and Ivana Miković, CEO and founder of Firefly Productions, spoke about the Serbian production company’s latest crop of book adaptations, for which it is seeking international partners.

With more than 25 years in international media, Ivana Miković is co-founder, COO and producer of Firefly Productions, Serbia’s largest TV production company behind a series of dramas for local telecommunications company Telekom Srbija. Miković began her career as a BBC news producer in the Balkans. In 2006, she joined News Corps-owned FOX TV in Serbia and was soon promoted to news manager. In 2013, she became general manager of Antenna Group‘s TV B92 channel. She launched N1 TV, CNN‘s affiliate in the Balkan region, as executive director. In 2015 she joined Radio Television of Serbia, as deputy general manager. Since the launch of Firefly in 2018, Ivana has produced 14 drama series.

On its website Firefly Productions claims to tell unique stories, creating experiences for viewers, and presenting them with universes made by their creators. The company is also active on the international scene and aspires to become even more so. Having established distribution relationships with Germany’s Beta Film and France’s Mediawan, Firefly is looking for co-production partners abroad for a series of English-language book adaptations.

Miković, who is among the executives profiled in C21’s CEE100, spoke this week with Nico Franks at Content Warsaw about these projects and how the Serbian market has evolved in recent years to become one of the most interesting in the Central and Eastern European region.
