The Mediapro Studio presented its plan into USA and Canada expansion with JC Acosta as head

As was announced at the beginning of October, prior to MIPCOM 2024, The Mediapro Studio is preparing to expand into the United States and Canada as part of its plan to globalize its operations and partner with more producers in the Americas region, adding to its efforts in Latin America with key partners in the creation and production of both scripted and unscripted content.

Offering more details, Laura Fernández Espeso, CEO of The Mediapro Studio, provided insights into this expansion during a keynote address on the third day of MIPCOM Cannes 2024. JC Acosta, the former Paramount executive who now leads the company’s U.S. and Canadian operations, was also present.

‘After our financial growth, we are ready to start our new chapter. So last May, we announced the launch of the Media First Studio in Canada. We are going the extra mile and are fully committed to English-language content’ said Fernández Espeso.

The company has a new headquarters in Los Angeles, in addition to its six offices in Miami and New York, making this expansion into the region a “logical” decision, according to the executive. For this expansion, The Mediapro Studio boasts a strong catalog and pipeline of English-language content, including scripted series, general entertainment talk shows, documentaries, and several upcoming films.

‘Our strategic focus in the U.S. aligns perfectly with our initiatives in other key territories, emphasizing, as I’ve mentioned before, creative talent but also relevance and reach, and of course, diversity, which is a priority for our company. Our activity in Los Angeles and Europe is very solid. These are key markets for us, as is Spain, of course. We have earned the trust and respect of key clients in the region, and we’ve had invaluable support from our production partners who have enriched our productions. We want to maintain this close connection with talent, clients, and partners because this is why we produce content: much of our international expansion depends, without a doubt, on local connections’, emphasized Fernández Espeso.
