With international press, buyers, and key executives in attendance, the official presentation of Belfort & Lupin, the new production by Ellipse Animation and distributed by Mediatoon Distribution (both subsidiaries of the French media group Média-Participations), took place. The project also includes partners such as PROCIREP, ANGOA, and the public broadcaster France Télévisions.
The event, part of MIPCOM and MIPJunior, featured the presence of Caroline Duvochel and Morgann Favennec, Managing Director and VP of International Financing at Ellipse Animation, respectively, who shared insights on the production and the future outlook for the series.
«This project brings together all the audiovisual business units of the group. Ellipse Animation, Belvision, Dreamwall, Studio Campedelli, Mediatoon Distribution, and Cascades have joined forces to work on this new show as co-producers, studios, and distributors,» said Duvochel. «Additionally, our sister companies Dupuis and Mediatoon Licensing are on board to create a comprehensive IP strategy for Belfort & Lupin.»
Favennec added, ‘In short, Belfort & Lupin offers a fresh take on animation, mixing humor, friendship, and fascinating facts. The show will feature talking animals as Belfort and Lupin embark on their adventures together’.
The animation series, which is the latest creation from the renowned studio behind the 3D CGI version of The Smurfs, is part of Mediatoon Distribution’s catalog at MIPCOM in Cannes this week. Belfort & Lupin, aimed at children, is an adventure-comedy series that will feature 26 episodes of 22 minutes each, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The story follows Lupin, a street-smart character, and Belfort, an aristocrat with great wisdom, as they team up to explore a palace and meet various animal companions along the way. The series will be available in both English and French versions.
