ATF 2024: Encripta’s diverse lineup includes Carrie Fisher’s final film
Distributor Encripta is presenting a strong and diverse slate at ATF 2024, featuring recent productions that span adventure and fantasy films, as well as dramas and comedies.
Among the highlighted titles is Wonderwell, an adventure and fantasy film directed by Vlad Marsavin, starring Carrie Fisher and Rita Ora. The story follows Violet, a young girl who, during a family trip to a medieval village, crosses a portal into a magical world. This US-Italian production, released in 2023, represents Fisher’s final performance, adding an emotional touch for her fans.
Another significant title is L’immensità, an Italian-French co-production directed by Emanuele Crialese and starring Penélope Cruz. This 2022 film delves into family complexities in 1970s Rome, exploring themes of identity and gender roles. It has been praised for its sensitivity and visual style, achieving a global box office of 3 million dollars.
In the horror-comedy genre, Matadores de Aliens, directed by Daniel Cipriano and José Raue, adds humor to the theme of alien invasions. The story follows three friends caught in the middle of an alien invasion in a small Brazilian town. With Felipe Hintze and Hall Mendes in the leading roles, this film promises action and laughs within a science fiction context.
Also included is All Shall Be Well, a Hong Kong drama directed by Ray Yeung. Winner of the Teddy Award at the Berlinale, this film tells the story of Angie, who, after the unexpected death of her partner, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and emancipation, supported by her chosen family.
Other titles include Troll Factory, a US crime drama examining the phenomenon of online public opinion manipulation; and Co-Husbands, a Spanish comedy directed by Lucía Alemany, where Paco León and Ernesto Alterio play two men who discover that their wives are the same person after an accident at a ski resort.
