Filmax: versatile productions
Distributor and producer Filmax arrives in London to participate in the MIP market, highlighting two titles that reflect its versatility in content production: the romantic series Dating in Barcelona and the sports documentary Matador.

Set in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Dating in Barcelona explores relationships in the digital era through unique stories of people who meet online. Focusing on the fears, expectations, and emotions surrounding modern dating, each episode introduces a new set of protagonists searching for love, sex, or simply an escape from loneliness. Produced by Filmax in collaboration with Arca Production for TV3 and Amazon Prime Video, the series features a stellar cast, including Anna Castillo, Ricardo Gómez, Natalia Tena, and Leonor Watling. Its 12 episodes, spread across two seasons, have been directed by talented filmmakers such as Nely Reguera, Gemma Ferraté, and Pau Freixas, bringing a fresh perspective to the complexities of human relationships.

Matador brings to the screen the inspiring story of mixed martial arts fighter Ilia Topuria, who overcame a childhood marked by war in Georgia to become one of the top competitors in the UFC. This documentary not only narrates his meteoric rise in the sports world but also delves into the personal challenges he has faced, always supported by his family and friends. Directed by Giampolo Manfreda, the film blends the intensity of fights with an intimate perspective on the fighter, showcasing his determination to claim the world title against the undefeated Alexander Volkanovski.
