Filmax, the Spanish production powerhouse with a history spanning back to 1953, is bringing a selection of new and established scripted series to MIPCOM 2025. The company, known for producing acclaimed features and Emmy-winning television like Polseres vermelles, is highlighting productions that draw on distinct regional settings and high-stakes emotional and criminal narratives.
The market slate features the new thriller series NOT FOR SALE (RAVALEAR) (6×45′), which is produced for HBO Max in Spain and Portugal. The drama centers on the Can Moscas family, whose traditional restaurant, a beloved fixture in Barcelona’s vibrant Raval neighborhood, faces an imminent threat from an unscrupulous investment fund. The family decides to fight to save their business and their building, even if it requires crossing unexpected boundaries, engaging with themes of local identity versus real estate corruption.

Another key offering is MOUTHS OF SKY (8×40′ across two seasons), a Basque-language thriller-drama. The series follows Nerea Garcia, a former police officer living an isolated life in Bilbao, who is reluctantly pulled back into a dark investigation when her old boss asks for help with a ritual murder case. Nerea’s reluctant return forces her to confront personal ghosts and a hidden reality where appearances are deceiving.
Filmax is also promoting the second season of its romantic comedy success, DATING IN BARCELONA (12×50′), which is available in both Spanish and Catalan. The series explores the varied fears, expectations, and complexities of modern relationships set against the backdrop of Barcelona, focusing on different people who meet online in their search for love, sex, or an escape from loneliness. The show has demonstrated strong local performance, successfully premiering on the Catalan public network TV3 and becoming one of Spain’s popular TV series on Amazon Prime Video last year.
