Fox EG: a step ahead in unscripted formats

Fox Entertainment Global (USA) is one of the big global studios that are present both at London Screenings and MIP London. On Wednesday 26 offered a cocktail at the Ham Yard hotel, and on Thursday 27, the company provides a screening at The SOHO Hotel, both for worldwide buyers.

The Wednesday cocktail at the Ham Yard hotel: David Smith, head of international distribution, Fox EG, surrounded by Lucy Smith, Vanessa Van Santen and Robert Marking, from RX France (MIP London organizer)

What can be stressed about FOX EG in London? David Smith, head of international distribution, said at the cocktail: ‘We have positioned ourselves in unscripted formats, beyond we develop a wide variety of genres. We present especiallyExtracted, a new survival show from the producers of ‘Alone’ and ‘Special Forces’, which has got huge success in Fox network USA this month, and promises very good repercussion at the international markets’.

At ‘Extracted’, ‘the audience views everyday people as they watch their loved ones suffer in nature. ‘The Hunger games’ meets ‘Big Brother’’, it was said by US critics. ‘In the unforgiving Canadian wilderness, 14 untrained individuals face the ultimate test of survival: no supplies, no training, just raw instinct against nature’, added.

In scripted, Fox EG stresses ‘Going Dutch’, where Denis Leary returns to comedy, as a hard-nosed military man saddled with a ragtag bunch of lazy soldiers. ‘We have a very good slate this year, to generate a positive impression and business opportunities for international buyers’, Smith concluded.
