France TV Distribution at Rendez-Vous 23: About «Dix pour cent» success and the premier of «Tout pour Agnès»

As part of its participation in the 2023 edition of Rendez-Vous, organized by Unifrance, France TV Distribution is highlighting the global hit Dix pour cent (Call My Agent), the comedy-drama format that continues to add adaptations around the world.

The series has become the best-selling French fiction format in the world, and after the first and second seasons buyers were very interested fairly quickly, Julia Schulte, SVP of International Sales, told Prensario: ‘Comedy always does well, especially since Covid-19, because people want to escape, so that’s the current state of affairs. A lot of French producers are looking for a Dix pour cent kind of that could actually work today because the series is still a bit of a benchmark, the exception’.

The series has already several adaptations, in the United States and the United Kingdom and also in other markets, recently were in Turkey, India and Canada. Currently, France tv Distribution is working on completing more deal adaptations in another 15 territories.

‘The format is adaptable to different outlets, from linear channels to streaming, where it has been a resounding success, as is the case with Netflix’, added the executive.

Regarding other titles that stand out, she mentioned the French drama Vortex, a police drama with fantastical touches, which was recently acquired by Netflix to be broadcast in 190 countries, which sparked plans to sell the format as well. ‘It has a strong concept. ‘It’s a science fiction thriller series set in two different time periods and partly in the future, but in the near future, and today, there are new media involved like VR which plays a very important role in this thriller concept’, commented Schulte.

They also continue to promote Aspergirl, produced by Patafilm for OCS, which tells the story of an autistic mother who discovers that she’s autistic at the same time that her son is diagnosed with autism too.

One of the novelties in RDV is the launch of Tout pour Agnès, whose trailer is ready to be shown in the Market. The series it’s a true-crime mini-series of 4 chapters of 52 minutes produced by La Dame de Cœur (Effervescence Groupe) and Effervescence Fiction for France 2, that is inspired by real events and freely adapted from the book “Agnès Leroux – Investigation into the disappearance of a Young Rich Woman”, published in 1998 by Presses de la Cité by Roger-Louis Bianchini, which recounts the disappearance of the young heiress of the Palais de la Méditerranée, a large casino on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, a case that hit the headlines in the 1970s
