France TV Distribution is expanding its lineup of current affairs documentaries with Meloni Rising, a 52-minute film produced by KM Production, a Banijay France company. The distributor launched international sales for the documentary during Sunny Side of the Doc, held in La Rochelle from June 22 to 24.
Originally titled Le Cas Meloni, the documentary was written by Anna Bonalume and directed by Bonalume herself alongside Jérémy Frey. The production features France Télévisions as the French broadcaster and traces Giorgia Meloni’s journey from her political beginnings to her rise to the helm of the Italian government and her growing influence on the European stage.
The film also highlights the contradictions surrounding the leader: her position as a figurehead of the European radical right, her ties to the Italian political tradition, and the policies she has promoted during her tenure. Through archival footage, testimonies, and analysis, it seeks to explain the key aspects of a phenomenon that extends beyond Italy’s borders.
For France tv distribution, this release reinforces its commitment to social and current affairs content with potential for international markets, while also leveraging the platform of one of the world’s leading global documentary festivals.
