Fremantle lanza nueva división global dedicada a contenidos deportivos

Fremantle anunció la creación de Fremantle Sports, una nueva unidad de negocios orientada a la producción de contenidos deportivos, con énfasis en documentales factual, formatos digitales y entretenimiento basado en historias y personalidades del deporte. La iniciativa forma parte de una estrategia más amplia de crecimiento, que ya ha incluido la expansión de sus divisiones de Drama & Cine y Documentales en los últimos años.

La compañía, que ha desarrollado previamente títulos deportivos con diversas de sus filiales internacionales, busca ahora consolidar su presencia en este segmento. Entre los contenidos previos destacan All or Nothing (Arsenal y Tottenham) de 72 Films para Amazon; All or Nothing: German National Team de UFA; Matildas: The World At Our Feet, realizado por Fremantle Australia para Disney+; My Name is Francesco Totti de Wildside para Sky; UNDERWATER: Federica Pellegrini de Fremantle Italia para Amazon; Los Williams de En Cero Coma para ETB y Netflix; y Dirty Sports: The Biathlon Scandal de Monster Films para TV2 Noruega.

La nueva división estará a cargo de Owain Walbyoff, quien asume como Director de Deportes. Walbyoff liderará la estrategia de Fremantle Sports, incluyendo alianzas con titulares de derechos, acuerdos de coproducción y desarrollo de nuevos formatos multiplataforma. El enfoque estará en historias que vinculan el entretenimiento con el deporte, tanto en producciones con guión como en contenidos factual.

El equipo que impulsa la nueva área incluye a Amelia Brown (CEO de Fremantle UK), Gabriella Carriere (Group Head of Strategy), Georgette Schlick (CEO de Fremantle Northern Europe), Jeff Hasler (President de Original Productions) y Mark Reynolds (Global Head of Documentaries and Factual).

La producción de Fremantle Sports se apoyará en el trabajo de los distintos sellos que conforman el grupo, como 72 Films, UFA, Wildside, Naked, Beach House Pictures, Original Productions, En Cero Coma, Monster Films, entre otros.Con esta nueva estructura, Fremantle apunta a generar contenidos deportivos para una audiencia global, a partir de la colaboración con talentos, equipos y federaciones, y en línea con las tendencias de consumo de entretenimiento vinculado al deporte.

Two women, raised on separate continents, are surprised to discover they are half-sisters. Following the death of her mother, Sara learns that her father wasn’t her real father. In fact, her real father was an Irish street musician her mother met while backpacking 30 years ago. She travels to Ireland to find him.

Totally Completely Fine – DRAMA 6 x 1 hour

Inspired by real events, this six-part dark comedy led by Thomasin McKenzie (*JoJo Rabbit*, *Last Night in Soho*) explores the complexities of grief, the power of friendship, and the ways in which our sadness can bring us together. A US-Australian original co-production created by rising star writer and producer Gretel Vella (*The Great*). Vivian, a troubled twentysomething, inherits her grandfather Walt’s home after he passes away, only to find that the house is perched on a secluded cliff next to a notorious suicide spot.

Little Bird – DRAMA 6 x 1 hour

Inspired by true events, this compelling six-part series follows Indigenous woman Bezhig Little Bird on her journey to find her biological family and uncover the hidden truth of her past. In the late 1960s, five-year-old Bezhig Little Bird was forcibly taken from Long Pine Reserve and adopted by a Jewish family in Montreal, who renamed her Esther Rosenblum.
