Globo celebrated the screening of one of Globoplay Originals that heads its catalog at MIPCOM 2023, The Others. The series of 12 episodes of 45 minutes, was created by Lucas Paraizo and directed by Luisa Lima and Lara Carmo, and features performances by Milhem Cortaz, (from A Mother’s Love) and Maeve Jinkings (from Land of the Strong).
The story follows two neighboring couples who are shocked after their teenage children’s fight, with absurd consequences. What could be a common misunderstanding grows and reveals the limits and influence of parents in raising children. A modern series about where lack of dialogue can lead people.
Prensario interviewed its director, who commented on the creative process and the challenges of production: ‘Well, we came out of a very difficult government in Brazil, a few years of a lot of polarization and a lot of fighting. So that caught my attention a lot when we were creating the series. And intolerance was what caught my attention the most at that moment.
Paraizo believes that these stories should be told as it promote overcoming the social gaps due to politics that exist in Brazil. We start from this idea that is discussed in the series to develop a little the narrative that those who are going to suffer the consequences of this are the people who believe that violence is the solution.
The series already have a second and third season confirmed. Like the first, the second is also filmed in Barra da Tijuca, Brazil, and will continue with some characters from the first season.
