On the night of October 11, Globo held a presentation in Cannes to announce a series of commercial agreements and strategic partnerships reinforcing the expansion of its portfolio in the global market. Hosted by TV Globo journalist Cecília Malan alongside executives Angela Colla (Head of International Business) and Rodrigo Nascimento (Head of Business Development – EMEA), the showcase celebrated new deals, content highlights available for the international market, and possibilities for partnerships and collaborations involving the licensing of finished content as well as scripted and unscripted formats.

The opening of the evening highlighted the concept of Super Dramas, with an emphasis on the telenovelas Anything Goes, a remake of a classic that captivated Brazil, and Three Graces, a production that became the most commented on in Globo‘s history on social media. The segment also celebrated the launch of To Love Is To Care, a super-production currently airing during Brazilian prime time.
“The stories that break through are not always the loudest. They are the ones that become relevant in people’s lives. And that is what we want to talk about tonight: not just the stories themselves, but what makes them resonate so deeply that they continue touching the public way beyond the screen”, commented Angela. “A plot can bring you into a story. But aspects such as strong characters, emotional investment, aspirational and authentic journeys, contemporary tensions, real moral dilemmas and complex relationships are what keep you there. They drive conversations”, added the executive.
Next, Cecília Malan emphasized that Globo will be honored on Wednesday, the 14th, with the 2026 MIPCOM Recognition for SDG Impact award, presented in partnership with the United Nations (UN) in recognition of the impact of its productions on social causes.
Rodrigo and Angela also presented the Globoplay Original series, highlighting titles across different genres such as The Playoffs, Emergency 53, and Blood Red – Under the Moonlight. “We believe scale is not only about reaching everyone with the same story. It is also about understanding different audience needs and creating stories that speak directly to them. That is where our streaming platform Globoplay and its original series play a fundamental role. They explore distinct genres and viewers expectations, while applying the same storytelling expertise and production quality behind every project, no matter if it’s a thriller, a drama, a comedy or a true crime story”, explained Angela.
Among the highlights of the night, Globo confirmed that the BBC has acquired the first season of the Globoplay Original series Blood Red – Under the Moonlight in the United Kingdom for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three. This marks the first time a Globoplay Original series has been licensed to the BBC.
“The BBC acquisition is another example of how understanding audiences helps stories travel further. And helping our partners find that audience connection is at the heart of what we do. And our work does not stop when the finished content is delivered. Together, we follow performance, share insights and work with partners to unlock each title’s full potential, from launch strategy to audience engagement”, stated Angela.
The expansion of Globo’s telenovelas formats also gained prominence with the presence of international partners. Rodrigo highlighted Globo‘s historic partnership with SIC and welcomed Vanessa Tierno, Director of TV Business at SIC, onto the stage to celebrate the new phase of this collaboration. Following the success of the Portuguese version of Pages Of Life, the broadcaster is now developing a local adaptation of Brazil Avenue.
“A successful adaptation is not about recreating every detail. It is about identifying the emotional truths that made a story resonate in a specific territory, and reimagining them for a new audience and culture. That is why the strongest formats continue to travel. Not because they stay the same, but because they remain meaningful wherever they go”, commented Rodrigo regarding the adaptation model.
The consolidation of the business model with Turkey was reaffirmed with the renewal of the partnership between Globo and the production company Ay Yapım to create The Life She Built, an adaptation of the telenovela Looks and Essence directed by Hilal Saral. The announcement was celebrated on stage alongside Kerem Çatay, CEO of Ay Yapım, reinforcing a partnership that has been expanding the presence of Globo‘s formats in the international market. The announcement follows the international success of Leyla (the Turkish version of Brazil Avenue), which has already been sold to over 100 countries and nominated for an International Emmy.
The international expansion of scripted formats also gained prominence through the partnership between Globo and Alpha TV in Greece. On stage, Christos Kompos, Programming Director at the Greek broadcaster, celebrated the development of a local adaptation of the drama series The Others, whose first international version is already in production by Primavisione. The companies are also advancing their collaboration with the development of an adaptation of All The Flowers, which will also be produced by Primavisione and broadcast by Alpha TV, broadening a strategic partnership aimed at creating local versions of Brazilian stories for the Greek audience.
To wrap up the event, Globo invited the international market to follow the next steps of Brazil Avenue 2, the sequel to one of the most globally impactful telenovelas in the company’s history. The production, already announced to the market and scheduled to premiere in Brazil in January 2027, continues one of the broadcaster’s works with the greatest international reach and circulation.
“I truly believe a story matters when people recognize something of themselves in it. And when that connection is real, it doesn’t stop when the episode ends. It grows across episodes, platforms, communities, countries and generations, becoming part of people’s lives”, concluded Angela.
