GMA Network deals to broadcast 14 series in 42 African countries

Love Before Sunrise

Its latest collaborations with other international platforms such as Netflix, Viu and Amazon have made its content available to a wider audience. GMA Network secured a landmark distribution deal to broadcast 492 hours of content, in 42 countries in Africa, making it a major provider of premium Filipino content in the world’s second largest continent. The network also sold 248 hours of content to a major broadcaster, which will air seven of the network’s most acclaimed and top-rated series this year. In total, GMA Network distributed some 1,700 hours of content to various broadcasters and pay-TV and streaming platforms in APAC, Africa and Eastern Europe.

‘One of the network’s top-rated shows, “Crocodile Whisperer”, was acquired by an Indonesian broadcaster, while “Maria Clara and Ibarra” was the most watched drama on Netflix Philippines for 10 consecutive weeks. This year, we signed a five-year deal with a leading OTT video streaming service in the region that delivers content to Filipinos. The agreement, which marks the first collaboration between GMA and this streaming platform, makes available new GMA titles starting with “The Write One” and “Love Before Sunrise”. Ten dramas or 345 hours of content will soon be available in MENA through another major streaming service’ added Roxanne J. Barcelona.

One of its main titles of the season is Love Before Sunrise (35×45′). This romance and drama series, tells the story of ex-lovers who accidentally meet again after several years. They regret having lost each other after being trapped in their unhappy marriages. Their situation is complicated when they give in to their rekindled feelings and decide to continue their forbidden love.

They also present Love The Way You Are (20×45′), which tells the story of an heiress who disguises herself as a man to escape her stepbrother, who wants her dead to inherit all his wealth. While in hiding, she meets a kind-hearted thief and falls in love.

Finally, The Missing Husband (40×45′). It is a drama that follows the story of a man who is the victim of a scam and suddenly disappears. His wife searches for him and ends up discovering that he disappeared on purpose.
