Iberseries & Platino Industria: Madrid market pushed global sales and strategy

The fifth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria concluded after four days (September 30 to October 3, 2025) at Matadero Madrid. The event, supported by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, successfully convened over 2,300 accredited professionals from 50 countries, solidifying its role as the major meeting point for Ibero-American audiovisual content.

The market saw an overall increase of 30% in participating companies, totaling 1,300 firms from around the world. Almost 50% of accredited professionals traveled from outside Spain. Top attending countries included Mexico, Argentina, the United States, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and Brazil, with Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Turkey also showing a strong presence. This year marked a specific focus on South Korea, an official Country in Focus, alongside delegations from China and India.

Programming and industry focus

The four-day agenda included over 130 activities, including 20 exclusive screenings and 60 high-level panels featuring more than 200 speakers. Over 130 projects were presented across pitch sessions, the Co-production and Financing Forum, and workshops. The event hosted nearly 170 international buyers.

The conference agenda focused on:

  • Market Trends and Business: Analysis of the European ecosystem, and global strategies from companies including Beta Film, Secuoya Studios, Banijay, Telemundo, HBO Max, and Disney+.
  • Keynotes: International figures such as Nicolas Atlan (Gaumont), actress and producer Luisana Lopilato, and Silicon Valley showrunner John Altschuler delivered keynote sessions.
  • Financing: Panels focused on venture capital, attracting investors, and the role of CREA SGR in supporting Spanish cinema. The Be&Jing1 Capital investment fund was launched.
  • Technology: Sessions covered drones in filming, the application of Artificial Intelligence in the sector, and new impact metrics from SPLATAM (Parrot Analytics).

  • RTVE screened new titles, including the thriller La frontera and the drama Sin gluten.

  • Prime Video Brazil debuted the first episode of Tremembé.
  • Eugenio Derbez delivered a keynote, followed by a family meeting discussing the project De Viaje con los Derbez.
  • A central debate addressed Artificial Intelligence, focusing on copyright and the attention economy, with speakers from TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch.

Market and Collaboration

The Mercado Audiovisual Internacional (MAI) reinforced its global projection. The exhibition space saw significant participation from ProColombia, Argentina Audiovisual, Cinema Chile, and EGEDA Mexico. International visibility was boosted by Gold Sponsors Movistar Plus and KOCCA / Series on Board, and Silver Partners including Atresmedia Sales and ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones. The market successfully reinforced its role in driving co-production and exchange among participating territories.
