The seventh day of VS Next’ “Industry testimonials” brought together successful cases and trends from Star Media (Russia), ABS-CBN Corporation (The Philippines) and Olympusat (USA).
Sergey Kupreev, CBDO at Star Media, highlighted the new OTT from the company called LAVA, with which he joins the streaming market: ‘By launching our own streaming service, we are not planning to compete with global platforms and local streaming services that entered the market long ago. On the contrary, we want to cooperate. Our target audience are descendants from the former Soviet Union, members of their families and friends living all over the world. Key markets are North and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, Israel and a part of Asia ‘.
Cirilo Ruel Bayani, head of international production at ABS-CBN Corporation (The Philippines): ‘The pandemic accelerated our step into the digital world. Our web news platforms are one of the strongest on the market and our YouTube channel has a strong subscriber base. Likewise, we recently signed an alliance with Cathay CineHome, the streaming video rental service of leading cinema operator Cathay Cineplexes in Singapore, for the rental of Filipino movies’.
Jazmine Rezai, VP content acquisitions sales and strategy at Olympusat (USA), concluded: ‘We are acquiring titles with high production values in genres such as comedy, drama and fiction. We are realizing that America is standing out for being one of the hubs where the most creative ideas for TV series emerge today’.
