Insight TV highlights travel and food stories at ATF 2024

Insight TV returns to ATF 2024 with a curated lineup aimed at showcasing its pivot toward focused content genres, particularly in Travel and Food. With over six years of presence in the Asia-Pacific market, the company continues its distribution efforts across key territories including China, South Korea, Japan, India, and Australia.

For the Travel and Food category, Insight TV has partnered with international producers to bring new series to the forefront:

Street Food Nomad: Kolkata (6×26’), produced with Mago Films, takes viewers into Kolkata’s bustling streets, where chef Will Meyrick explores the city’s multicultural food traditions and draws inspiration for his creative fusion dishes.

Cooks on Fire: Battle of the Barbecues (12×60’), a collaboration with Perpetual, features a barbecue competition set in New Zealand, showcasing passionate grill teams competing in creative and high-pressure challenges.

A partnership with SD Media brings Road Less Traveled (51×50’) and Maximum Foodie (40×30’) into the fold, further diversifying Insight TV’s slate. Road Less Traveled follows Jonathan Legg’s adventures across over 30 countries, while Maximum Foodie highlights unique culinary stories across the globe, blending cultural immersion with gourmet exploration.

Acclaimed chef Will Meyrick embarks on a pilgrimage to Kolkata, seeking inspiration for new recipes to dish up at his internationally renowned restaurants. Will’s passion is “the people’s food” and he finds it on bustling streets in cities all over the world. His is a journey into dishes with a rich history of culinary cultures. Will seeks secrets to inspire his incredible fusion dishes that have made his restaurants household names. Join Will and venture down the alleyways of Kolkata to discover the Chinese, Arabic, Mongolian, British and even French influences in India’s vibrant street food scene. Back in the kitchen, where Will is at his most creative, he takes the heart and soul of Kolkata and crafts exciting, inspired dishes in his quest to share authentic Indian flavours with fine-diners and food-lovers the world over.

ROAD LESS TRAVELED (51×50’)

ROAD LESS TRAVELED follows Jonathan Legg’s thrilling escapades across the globe. From attending nerd conventions in Japan and riding motorcycles across the highest motorable passes in the Himalayas to taking a chemical oil tanker ride to McMurdo Station in Antarctica, the series offers an intimate glimpse into diverse cultures and extraordinary stories. Jonathan’s relentless pursuit of authentic adventure takes viewers through over 30 countries across five seasons, showcasing experiences often overlooked by the masses.

MAXIMUM FOODIE (40×30’) 

MAXIMUM FOODIE follows veteran traveler and filmmaker Sashi De on his journey to discover the most unique chefs, local ingredients, and tastiest street food spots. Over the last decade, Sashi has scoured the world for food experiences that thrill, fascinate, and intrigue food lovers. The series showcases culinary journeys across the world, from Thailand to Turkey, Sashi immerses himself in the food culture; from street to fine dining, meets unique characters, and gets a real flavour of the community that has been shaped by food.

COOKS ON FIRE: Battle of the Barbecues (12×60’)

COOKS ON FIRE: Battle of the Barbecues, showcases six passionate BBQ teams from across New Zealand firing up their grills in the ultimate barbecue showdown. Competing in the epic BBQ Arena, the teams face two intense challenges in each episode: The BBQ Throwdown, where they showcase their signature dishes, and The Scorcher, a high-stakes test of creativity using mystery ingredients. Over 12 challenges and six fiery weeks, only one team can claim BBQ supremacy and a sizzling cash prize!
