Japan arrives at ATF 2025 with a renewed and expanded presence, reinforcing its commitment to international partnerships and premium content exports. The Broadcast Program Export Association of Japan (BEAJ) will jointly operate the Japan Pavilion (Stand B12) alongside the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the International Drama Festival in Tokyo, marking one of the country’s largest coordinated showings at Asia’s leading content market.

This year, the Japan Pavilion increases its total footprint by 20% compared to 2024, adding a new dedicated event space designed to host screenings, presentations, and industry networking activities. A total of 22 companies, including major broadcasters and production houses, will exhibit under the pavilion, presenting a diverse catalog that spans scripted drama, animation, formats, and documentaries.
Drama Gems From Japan
The expanded event space host the third edition of Drama Gems From Japan on December 3, kicking off ATF’s first full day of activities. Eleven participating companies will present select titles aimed at international licensing, offering global buyers a curated look at Japan’s evolving drama landscape.
The session is moderated by Victoria De Kerdrel of K7 Media, who will guide the presentation and highlight the international potential of each title following the screening of trailers.
Two standout works—TV Asahi’s Just a Bit Espers and ABC Television’s Forest—will receive special in-depth segments. Producers and overseas sales executives will join the stage to discuss creative direction, thematic strengths, and opportunities for international partners, giving buyers an inside look at Japan’s new-wave scripted storytelling.

Exclusive Events
Beyond the main showcase, each exhibitor within the Japan Pavilion will also host exclusive presentations and business events throughout December 3 and 4. These sessions aim to deepen buyer engagement, introduce fresh IP, and support Japan’s broader strategy to accelerate global expansion across genres.
With more companies, more space, and a stronger programming slate, Japan positions itself prominently at ATF 2025. From high-end drama and signature animation to factual content and co-production prospects, this year’s Japan Pavilion reflects a market that is expanding its international ambitions and actively building pathways for global collaboration.
