Kidscreen Awards’ annual winners were revealed on Wednesday night, hosted by drag performers and children’s educators Fay Slift and Fluffy Soufflé (The Fabulous Show with Fay and Fluffy), sponsored by Canada Media Fund. The awards recognized the best work of the year in children’s television and digital media as determined by two panels of industry judges. In the ceremony, Netflix won 15 trophies followed by Comcast, which obtained eight awards.
The awards, which this year received more than 550 nominations from around the world, recognize the best of children’s television and digital media. And in its fourteenth edition, Netflix was the great winner of the night with awards in 15 categories. The animated preschool series Deepa & Anoop, produced by Mattel Television for the platform, stands out. The series won two awards for Preschool Programming (premiere series and inclusion), and another two for Creative Talent (music and vocal performance). See-Saw Films‘ (also for Netflix) Heartstopper didn’t fare badly, either, taking down Best New Release, Live Action and Outstanding Series in the Tween/Teen Programming categories, as well as an award for Best creative talent for best performance.
Although the episode “Dragon Islands” of the Pocoyo series from the Spanish animation studio Zinkia Entertainment, which was on the shortlist for the Best Holiday or Special Episode category, within the Children’s chapter, finally “Snoopy Presents: To Mom (and Dad)” by With Love.
