KOCCA unveiled diverse slate of Korean animation at MIPCOM 2026

The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), in conjunction with Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, took center stage on the opening day of MIPCOM 2026 to present the «K-Ani IP Showcase”. The event highlighted a dynamic portfolio of five Korean animation intellectual properties actively seeking international partnerships, ranging from co-productions and pre-sales to distribution, licensing, and investment agreements.

Welcoming international buyers and industry delegates, Haein Lee, France Business Center Marketing Manager at KOCCA, outlined the agency’s strategic goals for the market. ‘Our goal today is to introduce you to five Korean animation IPs that are ready for your next step with international partners’, she stated. Emphasizing the breadth of the showcase, added, ‘Over the next hour, you will see a wide range of stories: a body swap comedy, a young adult fantasy feature, a short-form black comedy, a preschool musical, and a toy-driven action franchise’.

The showcase allocated dedicated slots for the creators and producers behind each work to pitch directly to the global market:

  • Studio Animal Co., Ltd. opened the presentations with Princess Hurricane, pitched by Creative Producer Jung-Jin Hong. Currently in development, this 26-episode (11 minutes each) fantasy comedy targets teens and young adults, revolving around a chaotic body swap between a royal princess and a notorious troublemaker.
  • Pivoting to the theatrical space, Sungwhe Hur, Producer and Director at STORYFARM, presented Dead Sorcerer’s City. This 100-minute action-adventure feature film targets the 15-18 young adult demographic, offering a darker, immersive cinematic fantasy experience.
  • Tapping into the growing demand for bite-sized digital content, Yim Do Young, CEO of Pixtrend Inc., unveiled Virus N. Currently in development, this slapstick black comedy features 108 micro-episodes running just 1 minute and 40 seconds each. It is designed primarily for audiences aged 12 and up, though it holds broad, all-ages appeal.
  • Focusing on early childhood entertainment, Jee-soo Han, International Sales & Partnership Manager at Sunwoo & Company Inc., introduced the preschool musical DoReMi Dalimi. Aimed at children aged 0 to 4, the property consists of 39 11-minute episodes spanning two seasons, utilizing music and relatable themes to engage the youngest viewers.
  • Rounding out the presentation was Cabeon Evolution from Dream Factory Studio, Inc. Director Jinny Lee showcased the action-adventure series, which targets older kids (aged 8-11) and spans 26 11-minute episodes across three seasons. The project is strategically positioned as a toy-driven franchise with expansive IP licensing opportunities.

To facilitate ongoing deal-making, Lee invited delegates to continue negotiations and discover additional projects at the Korean Pavilion, located across stands R7 and E1, reinforcing South Korea’s robust footprint and commitment to global animation exports at this year’s market.
