LAVS 2021: Accumulated Top Booth and Content Rankings

LA Virtual Screenings has already completed 8 market days, since May 11th to yesterday May 18th. The formal days will last till Thursday 20th, and since that moment the platform will keep open for 2 weeks more, till June 4, for late interactions. Two of the most followed rankings of the event, are the Top 15 booths and contents, per screenings. At the daily newsletter today, we’ve included the just May 18 tables. Here, there are the accumulated ones.

What can we mention about trends? At the Top booth ranking, the leading exhibitors of the first days are keeping the top places. They are mainly big global brands and Latin Distributors, due to the predominance of Latin America in buyers those days. ViacomCBS IS, Globo, Televisa, eOne, have been in the top 5 places most of the days. Even RTVE (Spain) the only Gold exhibitor among the Top 8 distributors, keeps always a top position. But now, they are mixed with Inter Medya, as the head of 4-5 Turkish distributors that have been growing the last days.

TV France International, ZDF Germany, Ampersand (France) are the three distributors that follow in the ranking, showing the good performance of Western European contents. Spain is having a great market, with usually 3-4 distributors among the Top 15 –here RTVE +The Mediapro Studio and GRB. Though the rest of the ranking, we have more Latins, more Turkish and more US big brands: AMC, etc. TBS from Japan is the Asian exponent, that in the previous VS market had very good screenings.

The Top 15 content ranking? Once we were six, telenovela from Globo, has been in the top place all the market, followed by Parot of ViacomCBS IS. After them, the map was quite varied, with different contents taking the 3er to 10th places. We must stress cases as Coffe with Scent of a Woman, from Colombian RCN, which scaled strongly the last days, and Princesas, from Peruvian Tondero, the only Bronze distributor usually allocated among the top contents. Other good Bronze case is Jupía, from US distributor RMVistar.

Banijay’s A class apart and ViacomCBS ISPH are the only unscripted formats usually in the Top 15, where we have mainly long scripted series and some short series. RTVE again calls the attention with 2-3 products —Ana Tramel, I’m alive, The Hunt Tramuntana— among the Top 15-20 titles.

What must we expect for the last days of the market? More fragmentation. That’s why this week in the rankings about just one day, many new names appear. The buyers, after watching their favorite brands, continue watching new booths and titles, day by day.
