LEONINE Studios: premium fictions

LEONINE Studios (Germany) returns to Cannes for MIPTV, where it will offer a high-end catalogue of fiction, ranging from dramas to comedy, thriller, historical and more.

The leading German independent studio, which includes the labels i&u TV, Madame Zheng Production, Wiedemann & Berg Film, W&B Television and SEO Entertainment, has been expanding in all business segments. Heading MIPTV, the company is strongly promoting the six-part event series Herzogpark (6x’60), which has premiered on RTL’s streaming service TVNOW.

Launched last MIPCOM, this social dramedy shows strong female characters depicted by an award-winning and internationally known cast including Heike Makatsch (Love Actually), Lisa Maria Potthoff, Antje Traue, Felicitas Woll, Heiner Lauterbach, Jeanette Hain, Trystan Pütter, Lukas Spisser and in a guest role Francis Fulton-Smith. Academy Award-winner Jochen Alexander Freydank is the director.

Another good option for global buyers is the comedy and scripted reality satire movie Badass Class (’97) with true friends, pure love and absolute chaos – the 12th grade of a Berlin high school goes on a wild graduation trip to Croatia.

Herzogpark, thriller

JGA: Jasmin. Gina. Anna (‘118) is another comedy movie about a story of friendship and saying goodbye to single life, full of humor and with great dialog wit. What if everyone around you is getting married and diving into a new phase of life, but you’re only allowed to watch from the sidelines?

On the historical genre, two proposals: first, Bonn (6x’60) is high-end drama event, political thriller with the true untold story about a young woman’s struggle to find her own place in a male-dominated society in the midst of the battle between Germany’s separate intelligence agencies formed after WW2. Second, a suspenseful crime thriller The Name of the Rose (8x’60) set in an intriguing and gloomy medieval world with a modern take and new details to a multilayered story.
