MADD Entertainment shared early sales success for two of its drama series, Ay Yapim’s Flames Of Fate and Medyapim’s Nehir. Both ongoing series are top-rated in Turkey, and although many sales have been completed, broadcast rights are still available in select territories across Asia and Latin America as of March.
The first one, based on the original story of TF1’s La Bazar de Charite (7 millions viewers per episode), a period drama based on a real tragedy in 19th century Paris, in which over 100 women died in a fire at a charity ball, has already been distributed in Spain, Romania, Hungary, Chile, Croatia, Israel, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, Honduras, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Uzbekistan and WarnerMedia Latin America.
Show TV airs the series on Thursday nights under the Turkish title Alev Alev. Not only does Ay Yapim’s adaptation update the story of betrayals, woman empowerment and romantic turmoil to a contemporary setting, but, still on air and counting, it has expanded far beyond the original. The series brings together an all-star cast, including Demet Evgar (Avlu), Dilan Çiçek Deniz (The Pit), and Hazar Ergüçlü (Kuzey Güney, The O.C) as three women who struggle against their circumstances — and whose fates are forever changed after surviving a deadly cistern fire.
Nehir, sold in Spain, Romania, Albania, Hungary, Israel, Paraguay, Macedonia and WarnerMedia Latin America, anchors Tuesday nights for FOX Turkey, where it airs under the original title Baraj. Based on a classic film, Medyapim’s drama explores a love triangle between the title character, a disfigured middle-aged man she fell in love with online, and the handsome young hunk she thinks is her internet beau. The series is set in a remote forest, where the two men are helping to build a dam. This seems to offer Nehir the perfect escape from her criminal life in the big city, but eventually the past catches up with her — and the two men with whom she’s fallen in love.
The series is still earning great ratings for Turkey’s most popular broadcaster. The series features a phenomenal cast, including award-winning actor Feyyaz Duman (Woman¬) as the scarred older lover, Burak Yörük as the sexy young hunk, and Biran Damla Yılmaz (Broken Flowers) as the woman caught between them.
