At MIPCOM 2024, Madd Entertainment will showcase the highly anticipated series El Turco, featuring Turkish actor Can Yaman in the lead role. Known for his previous work in series like Daydreamer and Bitter Sweet, Yaman plays the historical figure Hasan Balaban, an Ottoman soldier whose story bridges Turkey and the Western world.
The six-episode series, produced by Ay Yapim, blends history, action-adventure, and romance. It tells the story of Balaban, wounded during the 1683 Ottoman siege of Vienna, who finds himself in the Italian Alpine village of Moena. There, he becomes a local hero, helping the villagers revolt against oppressive taxes, earning him the nickname “El Turco.”
Madd Entertainment is positioning El Turco for a global release in February 2025, with a diverse international cast spanning nine countries, emphasizing the show’s international appeal. The series aims to be a key highlight at the Cannes TV market, attracting global buyers and viewers alike.
