Mediahub: keep moving forward

At Mipcom: Emrah Turna, managing director, surrounded by Elif Turna and Sangerim Zhakhina, sales.

Mediahub (Turkey) is the company of Kerim Emrah Turna, a well-known sales director who has promoted Turkish dramas since their beginnings in the international market. He has taken advantage of his experience to form a growing efficient staff and, above all, to offer content that maintains the trust of customers, not only from Turkey but also from other origins.

The good news is that now, with 2 and a half years of performance, the company is delving into its own production. Alaca was the first project, and now there are five titles to be developed, 4 that will be released two per year, within the next two years.

Emrah Turna told Prensario: ‘On the production side, we have made an alliance with Robin Philip and founded Globalsphere Studios, a key media personality in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and a producer in India. The idea is to produce in Turkey but also manage content in the Arabic language, to cover the growing Middle East market. It is a good opportunity to make a difference. In addition, we are planning a series for digital platforms, shorter than usual’.

Alaca has 120 episodes and is expected to perform very well in many markets, from the Middle East to Latin America. ‘Due to our experience, a key factor to have good results with Turkish dramas is to be fresh but below the classic advice of the genre. The regions that wanted to make products different from those they were recognized for suffered problems’.

‘We not only offer Turkish dramas, our catalog also includes content from Malaysia, India, the Philippines, South Korea, the Middle East… we would like to manage local content from all regions where we have regular distribution. The ax is to manage very good love stories, which at the same time can show lifestyles from other regions, usually very different from ours0’, he said.

The company is present in most of the markets on the content calendar: within the next few months, MIPcancún, ATF, Content Americas, DICM, etc. ‘The more global we can be, the more business opportunities we will have. With our own products, the options will also grow to develop formats, production services, co-productions, etc. The content business today benefits friendly and flexible companies, we want to be that while carrying high-quality products’, concluded.
