MIANIMA launches 2025 call for entries

The MIA – Mujeres en la Industria de la Animación (Women in the Animation Industry) association has opened the call for entries for the fourth edition of MIANIMA, its incubation, training, and pitching program designed to boost female leadership in the Ibero-American animation sector. Submissions closes on June 11. Six projects will be selected—two from each category: feature film, series, and short film—all of which must be creatively led by one or two women.

The women responsible for the chosen projects will participate in an intensive four-month program. This includes personalized mentorship, masterclasses taught by industry professionals, and support in developing both their creative and commercial pitches. The training aims to enhance the viability, visibility, and international projection of the proposals.

The initiative will conclude with a closing ceremony in Madrid, where projects will be presented to an international jury. At this event, one project from each category will receive an award. The prize for feature films and series will be €15,000 in professional services for the creation of a teaser, while the winning short film will receive services valued at €9,000 for its development.

MIANIMA accepts applications from women who are originally from or reside in the 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American community. The program seeks to strengthen the role of women in the industry, while also promoting values such as gender equality, cultural diversity, and sustainability. The full terms and conditions and the application form are available on the program’s official website.

The initiative is supported by Madrid Film Office and collaborates with Egeda.
