MIFA: Banijay Kids & Family secures a series of sales for “Charlie and Lola”

Benoît Di Sabatino – CEO – Banijay Kids and Family

Banijay Kids & Family, a global leader in children’s entertainment, responsible for hit series such as Totally Spies! and Mr Bean: The Animated Series, today announces multiple international sales of the preschool animated series Charlie and Lola. The deals have been secured by Banijay Kids & Family Distribution, the company’s distribution division.

Seasons 1 through 3, plus two specials, owned by Tiger Aspect Kids & Family, have been sold to TG4 (Ireland) and relicensed by WDR (Germany). Asiana (Korea) has acquired seasons 1-3; NRK (Norway), seasons 2-3; and NPO (Netherlands), seasons 1-2, plus two specials. Last year it was confirmed that Banijay Kids & Family would represent the audiovisual, digital and merchandising rights to the animated series.

Charlie and Lola has won numerous industry awards, including several children’s BAFTAs. It combines 2D animation and photomontage, with a cast of children’s voices, and is based on Lauren Child’s award-winning picture book series. Three seasons have aired to date, with a total of 78 11′ episodes and 2 22′ episodes, which premiered on CBeebies in 2005.

Julia Rowlands, Senior Vice President of Sales, Co-Productions and Acquisitions at Banijay Kids & Family, says: ‘Charlie and Lola is an iconic brand, and the continued international interest in it is testament to its enduring appeal to preschool audiences. We are very proud to have the series in our portfolio of premium children’s titles and are delighted that audiences around the world continue to enjoy the magic of its stories’.

Tiger Aspect Kids & Family (a Banijay Kids & Family company) is a multi BAFTA award-winning production company working in animation and live-action, from pre-school to family content.
