Movistar Plus+ International is going through a very interesting moment due to the company’s great commitment to original content. Its fiction series are different, risky, with unquestionable quality and always with the best talent, both behind and in front of the camera.
At Mipcom 2024, the international division of Spain’s largest pay TV/SVOD provider presents Querer, the new series produced by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Kowalski Films and Feelgood Media. It is the first TV series directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa and will be released in October.
Considered one of Spain’s most promising directors after winning the Goya for Best New Director for Cinco Lobitos (a film that won three Goyas), Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, along with Eduard Sola and Júlia de Paz, wrote the screenplays for the four episodes that make up the series.
The fiction stars Nagore Aranburu (Irati, Intimidad, Loreak), Pedro Casablanc (B, la película), Miguel Bernardeau (1899, Élite), Iván Pellicer (Paraíso) and Loreto Mauleón (Los renglones torcidos de Dios, Patria). Movistar Plus+ International is in charge of distribution.
Synopsis of Querer: After 30 years of marriage and two children in common, Miren leaves the marital home and denounces her husband for continuous rape. This serious accusation forces the children to choose between believing their mother or supporting a father who defends his innocence. A family journey that runs parallel to the judicial one with the same objective: to know the truth.
The company also presents Los años nuevos, a Movistar Plus+ original series in collaboration with Caballo Films. Rodrigo Sorogoyen is directing and executive producing this fiction created by Sara Cano, Paula Fabra and Sorogoyen himself, accompanied by Sandra Romero and David Martín de los Santos.
This is Rodrigo Sorogoyen‘s third collaboration with Movistar Plus+ after the acclaimed Antidisturbios and Apagón. Los años nuevos shows the life journey of the couple played by Iria del Río and Francesco Carril over the course of a decade, narrated in 10 episodes that revolve around the same time of the year: New Year’s Eve. The series will be distributed internationally by Movistar Plus+ International.
The company continues to promote and present to buyers a catalog of recently released fiction content, including successful productions such as La Mesías, Galgos, Muertos S.L., Marbella, Bellas Artes and Segunda Muerte.
