NBCUniversal: ‘Suits’ spin-off on the spot
NBCUniversal’s international TV distribution unit returns to Cannes for MIPCOM, presenting a slate of content produced by its studio. Among the highlights is the spin-off of the 2011 hit created by Aaron Korsh, Suits.
Among the top highlights at the market, is the new drama series Suits: L.A., a continuation of the popular Suits franchise. This series follows Ted Black, a former prosecutor turned lawyer, who must navigate the high-pressure legal world of Los Angeles while balancing personal and professional challenges. The series counts with a star-studded cast, including Stephen Amell and Josh McDermitt.
Another notable offering is Grosse Pointe Garden Society, a 13-episode drama that revolves around four members of a suburban garden club who find themselves entangled in murder and intrigue. The series is starring Melissa Fumero and AnnaSophia Robb, and has already been broadcast by its linear channel in the USA.
For crime procedural enthusiasts, The Hunting Party will be a must-watch. This 10-episode drama features a small team of investigators tasked with capturing dangerous criminals who escaped a secret prison. The drama is starred by Melissa Roxburgh, Nick Wechsler, Patrick Sabongui, and was executive-produced by JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn.
On the documentary side, The Americas is an 11-part event series produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and narrated by Tom Hanks. The series will explore the rich and diverse wildlife of the Americas, utilizing cutting-edge technology to reveal stories from Earth’s largest landmass. Featuring a score by Hans Zimmer, the docu-series is set to be a visually stunning and emotionally resonant journey through the natural world.
And rounding out the lineup is St. Denis Medical, a comedy series set in a struggling Oregon hospital. Shot in a mockumentary style, the show follows the daily lives of doctors and nurses who try to maintain both their patients’ health and their own sanity in a chaotic environment. Wendi McLendon-Covey is leading a talented cast formed by Eric Ledgin, Justin Spitzer, and other stars.
