Francisco Ramos, VP of Content for Latin America confirmed that Netflix will open offices in Bogota (Colombia) later this year. According to the executive, this action will allow the leading international streamer to be ‘closer’ to the creative community and members in South America. Between 2021 and 2022, it will produce +30 new productions between series, films, documentaries and specials in Colombia.
‘Ten years ago, Colombia opened the doors to Netflix. Years later we embarked on our first local production and we quickly realized the great talent of the country and the opportunity to create local content made by Colombians. This is how Siempre Bruja, Wild District (Dynamo and ZDF) Chichipatos, Frontera Verde and El Robo del Sigloarrived, as well as comedy specials such as those by Liss Pereira, Ricardo Quevedo, Antonio Sanint, Julian Arango and Alejandro Riaño or films such as Lavaperros‘, Ramos remarked.
He also underlined that the opening of an office in the Colombian capital citywill allow Netflix to be ‘closer to the creative community’ and its members. ‘We want to bring more Colombian stories to millions of homes around the world and for everyone to discover the incredible potential, talent, landscapes and culture of this country’, he stressed. And he concluded: ‘Between 2021 and 2022 we will shoot more than 30 new series, films, documentaries and specials in the country, which include the announced Ritmo Salvaje, Locombianos, Juanpis, Nada es igual de Lokillo Flórez, a talk show starring Alejandra Azcárate, Goles en Contra, Pálpito,Perfil Falso, Diomedes and Chichipatos S2. These securities are part of the local investment of more than USD 175 million that we have invested from 2014 to this year. ‘
